Bayern Rundfahrt - Etappenradrennen für Radprofis

Am Samstag, den 29. Mai 2010 heißt es früh aufstehen für die Mitarbeiter bei der Bayern Rundfahrt. Am Morgen macht sich der ganze Tross auf den Weg von Hersbruck nach Berching, um das Einzelzeitfahren vorzubereiten. Um 13 Uhr startet der erste Fahrer der Bayern Rundfahrt auf dem Reichenauplatz zum Kampf gegen die Uhr. Zuvor testen die Jedermänner ihre Form auf der Zeitfahrstrecke.  Außerdem bietet die Bayern Rundfahrt den Rahmen für 10 Paralympic-Starter, die sich ebenfalls im Kampf gegen die Uhr messen.

Die Strecke führt über Jettingsdorf, Rübling und Burggriesbach in Richtung Höfen, dann über Schmellnricht nach Obermässing und von dort nach Viehhausen und über Stierbaum, Rudertshofen und Wirbertshofen zurück nach Berching. Zieleinfahrt ist in der Schlesierstraße.

Spannend ist das Zeitfahren nicht nur als Einzelwettbewerb, sondern weil danach mit sehr großer Wahrscheinlichkeit der Gesamtsieger der Bayern Rundfahrt feststehen wird. In der Regel ändert sich das Klassement nach dem Zeitfahren auf der Schlussetappe nicht mehr entscheidend. Die Startiste für das Einzelzeitfahren der Bayern Rundfahrt finden Sie hier.

Garniert wird dieses sportliche Highlight von einem abwechslungsreichen Rahmenprogramm für Groß und Klein. Ein Grund mehr am Samstag nach Berching zu kommen!

Hi, Fleur from Down Under here again.

The sun was shining brightly for the start in Bayreuth.  I loved this town, it was full of beautiful buildings, a castle, church and university students bringing a lively, young and fun feel to it all.

I had the pleasure of joining the medical team today and although you are 2^nd placed car and among the action I was hoping we would not be needed for any riders.  A good day in the medical car is no action! No visitors in the medical car please :-)

Today´s stage was tough for the riders. Not sure why they decided to adopt such a frentic pace early on but the first hour of riding was intense. The undulating and rolling hills started early on and despite the magnificent countryside and scenery of forrest and lush green paddocks I doubt the riders were enjoying it as much as I was from the car.  And the showers meant in between the climbs they were busy taking rain jackets on and off.  At one stage it was 21 degrees and then 5 kms down the road it was 15 degrees. I guess that is a German summer?

The 14% gradients and climbs that just kept coming saw the bunch broken into pieces. They were working hard today and it was good to see the blood, sweat and tears from behind the bunch. With the exception of a rider needed some anti-flammatories and gel for his tendonitis in the knee we were not needed for medical duties. As I said, that is a good day.

So we have arrived in Hersbruck, a beautiful little town, and will be spending the night here before heading down to the Time Trial in Berching tomorrow morning. The riders get to Berching tonight allowing a couple of nights in the same hotel and I think they will be very much cherishing the sleep in tomorrow morning after such a tough day!  See you tomorrow.

Alles in Butter für das Team Milram: Gerald Ciolek holte sich den Sieg bei der 3. Etappe der Bayern Rundfahrt in Hersbruck. Nach 4:25,11 Stunden legte der Pulheimer all seine Kraft und sein Können in das Finale der Königsetappe und hielt die Konkurrenz knapp auf Distanz. Platz 2 ging an Grega Bole (Slowenien/Team Lampre-Farnese Vini), Dritter wurde der Franzose Steve Houanard vom Team Skil-Shimano. Als Tagesvierter schlüpfte der Spanier Ruben Perez Moreno wieder in das Gelbe Trikot der Volksbanken Raiffeisenbanken. Gerald Ciolek schob sich auf den 2. Platz in der Gesamtwertung vor und übernahm die Führung in der R+V-Nachwuchswertung. Ein anderer Deutscher freute sich über einen weiteren Tag in Blau: Nils Plötner behielt die Führung in der SDK-Sprintwertung und wird das Blaue Trikot auch auf der Schlussetappe nach Fürstenfeldbruck tragen. Und auch in der Bergwertung gab es keine Veränderung: das Bergtrikot von Frankenbrunnen bleibt bei Serafin Martinez (Spanien/Xacobeo Galicia).

1. Wie/womit haben dich diese Radsport-Verrückten geködert? What has brought you to this race?

I have several German friends who talked about this friendly, well established and organised race in Bavaria.  So it was a chance for me to catch up with friends in Munich on my way through to the French Alps, while enjoying the best sport in the world watching yet another bike race.

2. Welche Aufgabe(n) hast du bei der Bayern Rundfahrt? What is your role within the Bayern Rundfahrt Team?

Assisting Tilman with English updates, exchanging stories with the Team Managers in cars, like Thomas of Corratec, waving flags in the middle of the road to stop the riders crashing into the sign posts as they fly down the hill towards the finish in stage 2 doing and tomorrow in the Medical car  (hopefully doing very little as the riders will not crash or need medical assistance with an injury and pain free day )

3. Wie viele Stunden bist du während der Rundfahrt täglich im Einsatz? How many hours a day are you busy?

About 5 hours, depart to arrive.

4. Hast du einen Lieblings-Radprofi? Do you have a favourite cyclist?

Personal favourite(s) are Lance Armstrong, for all he has done for cancer awareness using the sport for a higher cause and George Hincapie, the gentleman of the peloton.

5. Wem drückst du bei der Bayern Rundfahrt 2010 die Daumen? Who do you cheer for in this race?

Favourite rider(s) here at Bayern Rundfahrt would probably have to include all Australian riders :-) and then Edvald Boasson, a great young talent and inspiring for the sport.

6. Was machst du nebenberuflich, also von Juni bis etwa Ende April? What is your job back home?

Back home in Sydney I am the Sponsorship & Marketing Manager for Coca Cola sponsorships, looking after the Olympics, Rugby World Cup and FIFA World Cup. We also are a major sponsor of the Tour Down Under, first race on the Pro Tour calendar each year, held in Adelaide, Australia. Prior to working for Coca Cola, I was the Country Manager for Powerbar, owned by Nestle, hence heavily involved with the sponsorship of Tour de France, Ironman etc.

7. Wie lange möchtest du dir die Bayern Rundfahrt noch antun? Will you continue your role within the next few years?

Loving this race in Bavaria so may just have to come back next year?
